The Lars Thrane LT-500 is an attitude heading reference system (AHRS) with 11 precision sensors. Using sensor fusion and Kalman filtering it outputs true and magnetic heading, deviation, variation, roll, pitch, rate of turn, air pressure and temperature, with a static heading accuracy better than 0.5 degrees rms and dynamic accuracy better than 1.5 degrees rms. It can be mounted in any orientation and has a built-in display and buttons for installation and service.
A single 8-pin cable carries power and simultaneous NMEA 0183 (4800 or 38400 baud) and NMEA 2000 data (LEN 2). The unit runs on 9-40 V DC at under 1 W, measures 91.6 x 75.3 x 32.7 mm, weighs 104 g, is rated IP42 and operates from -25 to +55°C. A+T Instruments lists the LT-500 as its recommended compass for use with A+T systems.
