Common questions
Is this the same as simulation?
No. SEA.AI is camera-based lookout and detection. For Virtual Marine bridge and FRC trainers, see /marine/simulation/.
Does SEA.AI need Starlink?
Detection runs on board. Shore viewing and updates need a reliable WAN — usually the same Starlink and cellular design we specify for the vessel.
Will it work with our existing network?
If there is a documented ops VLAN with PoE budget, often yes. We survey first and say when a switch or segment upgrade is required.
Does it replace VHF watch?
No. It adds another set of eyes for the watchkeeper. Radio and COLREGS procedures stay in force.
